What do we want?
An end to unsustainable practices.
Communities shouldn't have to struggle so terribly because of an industry. The relationship becomes completely unsustainable. Drilling in places where there's extremely limited access to clean water isn't acceptable, and neither is selling it back at prices that none affected can afford. Compensation for the communities comes as part of this package, as well as repairing the areas that have been contaminated by the dumping of plant waste and the damages done by distributing drinks with high levels of substances like DDT in India.
Job compensation.
People work at these facilities, and it can't be argued that there are not jobs involved when factories shut down. However, drilling that depletes over 20 feet of groundwater needed for poor communities is a practice that is simply unsustainable and must come to an end. These workers will need to be able to find work within their communities with fair pay.
We want the world to know that we're watching.
Coca-Cola isn't the only company who has committed these and other crimes. It's all around us. A little research into the Nestle corporation, Monsanto, Vivendi, factory farms or even that bottle of Fiji Water sitting in your refrigerator and you'll find that the bigger they get, the more they get away with. A friend of mine made a good point in saying that where you put your money is the biggest political statement you can make in this day and age. The permanence of these changes comes from the fact that the world will have been made aware that we the people won't stand for this irresponsibility from such those with major influence in lives across the globe.
