"Why Do I Care About Your Stupid Boycott?"
There are a lot of different ways this affects you, and different people will have different things get through their skulls of varying thickness. These reasons will be addressed in a number of cleverly-worded responses to questions I have either been asked or anticipate from the apathy that's all the rage these days.
Why is it up to me?
Because it absolutely is. You're the crowd they're catering to, and if you (the consumer) use your voice, Coca-Cola will have no choice but to listen. They're getting away with this not because their goal is to destroy as many lives as possible but because they've gone unopposed by their consumers (just good business, right?). Refuse to allow them to get away with these crimes both numerous and inexcusable. You're their source of income, and in that way you have total control.
I drink diet soda so it doesn't affect my health.
Didn't you ever do that Kindergarten experiment where you observed the Coca-Cola eat through the chicken bone? Check the "Your Health" section to get the health lesson you never asked for and probably need.
Boycotting will never work.
Boycotts have worked in the past and will continue to work. An informed consumer is intimidating.
Why are Coca-Cola's crimes more noteworthy than others?
They're not. There are loads of corporations doing the exact same things because they can get away with it. However, you have to work with one thing at a time. Coca-Cola caught my attention and proved a tactical choice. Boycotting a beverage company isn't that difficult, but if this were a boycott of PepsiCo, it would mean going after their parent company, Frito-Lay. Then the boycott involves brands like Quaker Oats and no one's pleased with things.
But--
No.
But. . .!
Really. No.
Why no?
Because inaction is synonymous to participation in those able.
Put yourself in the driver's seat for a change.
